Specific notices have been prepared to meet the requirements of prisoner cases. They are used only when the exclusion of felony-related or confinement-related impairments under section 223(d)(6) of the Social Security Act affects the outcome of the disability determination.
The various model letters and rider paragraphs explain the general provisions of the law and are used by themselves or with existing notices as shown in Prisoner Notice Finder Chart - DI 23501.025. The notices are intended to supplement but not replace any requirements for personalized notices.
NOTE: A personalized disability notice (PDN) is needed with model letter S, U, and V.
