DI 39536.225 Interface of the DDS System With SSA Systems

The interface of DDS systems with SSA systems is a critical consideration in the design of a DDS system. DDS systems must be able to interface with the SSA system using the protocol established by SSA.

  1. A.

The interface will allow DDSs to transmit:

    1. 1.

The daily title II and title XVI disability claims control and determination input data to SSA in accordance with the requirements as set forth inSM 05900.000; and

    2. 2.

The weekly SAOR prepared in accordance with the SAOR handbook.

  2. B.

The data to be transmitted to SSA will be sent directly from the DDS CPU to the SSA CPU using high speed telecommunication lines. It will obviate the need to relay the claims data using the current SSADARS terminals.

SSA is in the process of updating its current computer system. As part of the SMP, the Data Communication Utility (DCU) will be the new telecommunications network and the Paradyne equipment will be replaced. All equipment obtained must be fully compatible with the architecture of SSA's DCU. The DCU is an IBM Systems Network Architecture-based network employing the 3270 SNA/SDLC protocol, the ACF/NCP communications software or equivalent and the ACF/ VTAM telecommunications access method. (See DI 39536.240, Exhibit III.) (See SM 06001.000).
