DI 40501.001 The Social Security Administration’s Responsibility to Review Disabled Beneficiaries’ Cases to Determine Continuance or Cessation of Disability

Under the Social Security Act (Act), a disabled beneficiary who receives disability benefits must continue to meet the disability criteria. To ensure that the beneficiary continues to meet the disability criteria under the Act, the Social Security Administration (SSA) conducts continuing disability reviews (CDR).

For additional information on the frequency of CDRs, see DI 28001.020.

For processing instructions involving disabled beneficiaries with active tickets in the Ticket to Work program, see DI 55025.010.

A ticket is active if the Disability Control File (DCF) and the Entitlement CDR Screen (ECDR) shows it is ‘assigned’ or ‘in use SVR.’
