DI 41501.005 Diary Systems — DDS
The diary is used for a variety of control purposes and is usually used to establish a control for replies to evidence requests, e.g., an SSA-5526-U3 request for evidence. It can also be used to assure a followup at a specific time for information needed for a CDR, e.g., a TWP diary. Except for ACID, any number of diaries can be established as long as either the FIC (see DI 41501.010A) or the diary due date (see DI 41501.010E) is different on each diary.
The ACID program, the RSI case control system (in PSC-DRS), the disability diary system (in ODO) and the internal module diary system (in ODO) are used to establish diaries. Each is described below. (See DI 43520.015 for INTPSC diary procedures.)
B. ACID program
This system is used to establish diaries when there is an active MBR (the individual's benefits have not been terminated). If future development is scheduled (MIE, MIP, MINE or TWP diary) or development via an SSA-847-U3, SSA-1774-U4, or an SSA-5526-U3 is being undertaken now and there is no diary on the ACID system or the ACID diary must be updated, the DE will prepare an SSA-3500-U2.
NOTE: ACID is not normally used to control reconsideration cases.
C. RSI case control system (PSC-DRS only)
This system is used when there is no active MBR or the ACID system is otherwise unsuitable for the diary, e.g., a TWP diary that will mature less than 2 months after the current operating month and year. It is also used for control of reconsideration level cases. The diary controls may be established based on an SSA-5015-U2, or the diary copy of an SSA-L5025-NC or SSA-5526-U3. Addtional information concerning this system is in DI 41501.020B. The evidence codes to be used are shown in DI 41501.010B and the TOE codes in DI 41501.010D.
D. Disability diary system (ODO only)
This system is used when there is no active MBR or the ACID system is otherwise unsuitable for the diary, e.g., on preadjudicative development requests. It is also used for control of reconsideration level cases. The diary controls may be established based on an SSA-5015-U2 or the diary copy of an SSA-847-U3, SSA-L5025-NC, or SSA-5526-U3. The evidence codes to be used are shown in DI 41501.010B and C and the TOE codes are in DI 41501.010D.
E. Internal module diary system (ODO only)
This system is used in lieu of the disability diary system when the diary will mature less than 2 months from the current operating month and year. In this situation, prepare an SSA-5015-U2 showing evidence code “INTERNAL” or “INT.” Also show the correct TOE code from DI 41501.010D.
