DI 80550.020 CPMS Case Search

From the CPMS Homepage, search for a case:

  • Select [Find/Add a Case],

  • Enter the SSN, and

  • Select the search button.

A summary of all cases meeting the search criteria will be displayed for [Query], [View], or [Edit] access. If no matches are found based on the SSN, the case has not been established in CPMS.

If you do not have the SSN, you can search by name:

  • Select [Find an SSN by name],

  • Enter the name, and

  • Select the search button.

However, because CPMS is a national database, a name search may require entry of additional identifying information to limit search results.

NOTE: Non-ODAR components only have access to the [Query] function. Further, [Find an SSN by name] is not available to non-ODAR users.

A. Query (all components)

From the search results, case processing staff from any SSA field component can obtain case summary information from an established CPMS case by selecting [Query] for the specific case.

NOTE: The CPMS Query Guide, a condensed version with CPMS instructions specifically for non-ODAR offices, is located at:

http://odar.ba.ssa.gov/linkservid/A85E0AEC-5056-A10A-3C7EC8805F86AEB8/showMeta/0/

B. View (HO users only)

HO users may select [View] to display detailed case information on an established CPMS claim.

C. Edit (HO users only)

HO users may select [Edit] to add, change, or correct information on an established CPMS claim. Generally, the [Edit] function is available only to the owning office, i.e., the HO with current jurisdiction of the claim.
