DI 81010.032 Sending an Electronic Disability Collect System (EDCS) Exclusion to the Disability Determination Services (DDS) after a Certified Electronic Folder (CEF) Has Been Established and Transferred
If a subsequently filed claim is an EDCS exclusion, the following measures must be taken to alert the Disability Determination Services (DDS) that the official folder is now paper:
Create a paper file for each claim in the case. For more information see Preparing the Official Disability Folder - DI 11055.150.
Print sections A-D of the Certified Electronic Folder (CEF) (exclude any temporary documents in the green section) and file the documents in the MDF;
Create a message on the EDCS case in eView indicating that an electronic and a paper claim exist; and in this message:
Inform the DDS that it is necessary to update the Paper Folder Indicator (PFI) in eView; and
Provide the current claim level, type, and Social Security Number (SSN) for the paper claim, conversion, or appeal along with the reason for the exclusion.
Annotate the SSA-408 Route Slip to show that an EDCS Exclusion is associated with the case with the following: “EDCS exclusion-associate with claim transferred on MM/DD/YYYY. Update Paper Folder Indicator (PFI) Upon Receipt”.
