SI CHI01401.002 (IL) Illinois State Supplementary Payments (RTN 401 -- 03/2007)
In addition to the Federal supplemental security income (SSI) payment, States may
provide additional benefits to their own recipients in recognition of the variations
in living costs from one State to another and for the special needs of some individuals.
The Illinois Department of Human Services administers a State supplement for individuals
living in the community, or in sheltered care facilities or homes not subject to licensing.
In order to be eligible for this State supplement, an individual must:
-
A.
Be receiving or have applied for SSI and been denied due to excess income (if denied,
must meet State income eligibility requirements); or
-
B.
Be a non-citizen who is ineligible for SSI due to the federal 7-year limit.
