SI NY01801.107 (New York) The Food Stamp Household

A food stamp household is defined as individuals in a household who buy and prepare their meals together. In addition to the criteria outlined in SI 01801.060, the following possible exceptions also apply in New York State:

A. FOSTER CARE CHILD

A New York State DSS foster care child living with a food stamp applicant may be part of that applicant's household or the applicant may choose not to include the foster child (and the foster child's income) in the applicant's food stamp household.

B. LEVEL I OR LEVEL II FACILITY

An SSI applicant living in a New York State Level I or II facility will generally be considered the SSI applicant's own household for F/S purposes. Applications for these individuals will generally be filed by an official resource agent or authorized representative on behalf of the resident.
