Operating Policy

The State of New Mexico (NM), Human Services Department (HSD) signed an Interim Assistance Reimbursement (IAR) agreement with the Social Security Administration effective January 15, 1992. The agreement provides for reimbursement to HSD for general assistance (GA) provided the SSI recipient during the period the SSI application is being processed.

New Mexico HSD provides GA payments to blind or disabled individuals between the ages of 18 and 65.
