HI 00208.100 Change of Provider Ownership
When an organization having a provider agreement undergoes a change of ownership,
the agreement becomes invalid in relation to the new ownership. A participating provider
which plans to change ownership gives advance notice of its intention so that necessary
action can be taken to enter into an agreement with the newly-owned institution or
to give notice to the public in the event the newly-owned institution does not wish
to participate in the Medicare program. A participating provider which plans to enter
into a lease arrangement (in whole, or in part) should also give advance notice of
its intention, because the provider agreement is not transferrable to the lessee.
Refer any contemplated changes of ownership which come to the DO's attention to the
HSQRO.
