HI 00801.405 HI Entitlement for Auxiliaries and Survivors Based on MQGE

Policy

Any individual who would qualify for monthly benefits or HI on a worker's record if the worker's GEQCs were SSQCs can qualify for HI based on MQGE. This includes a:

  • Spouse who is age 65 or is any age and has ESRD; or

  • Disabled adult child (DAC) of a worker who is deceased or eligible for Medicare; or

  • Surviving spouse who is age 65, or has ESRD, or is age 50 and disabled; or

  • Dependent parent who is age 65; or

  • Divorced spouse (including a surviving divorced spouse) who meets the length of marriage requirement and is age 65, is disabled or has ESRD; or

  • Remarried surviving spouse who is age 65, or has ESRD, or is age 50 and disabled; or

  • Dependent child with ESRD.

NOTE: An auxiliary can have Medicare if the NH is insured for Medicare based on GEQCs (whether used alone or in combination with SSQCs) even if the NH is only age 62-64. That is, the auxiliary can qualify under the same requirements as in RS 00301.160D.
