Question 26 collects information about the people who live with the claimant. It aids the adjudicator in making the correct living arrangement determination.
When a claimant lives with someone other than a spouse (i.e., question
is answered "NO"), complete 26(a). Complete all blocks for each claimant listed. If the claimant lives with an unrelated member of the opposite sex, see SI 00501.152 for possible holding out development.
EXCEPTION: Complete the "Under Age 22" portion only for claimants who are under age 22.
This documents if the claimant lives in a public assistance household.
Consider dates of birth for everyone in the household because:
A child's age can be a factor in determining inside in-kind support and maintenance (ISM) development and deeming allocations; and
If any of the people listed in 27(a) are at least age 65, blind or disabled, at any time within the evaluation period, treat this information as a protective filing for SSI benefits unless the form specifically states there is no intent to file for that person. (For more information on the evaluation period, see SI 00601.008B.6) Where no intent to file exists, treat the information as a lead per SI 00601.020A.2.
Use the information in the "Under Age 22" portion of this question to help determine if others in the household meet the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) definition of child.
NOTE: Student status and the student earned income exclusions for the claimant are covered in question 57 (For more information on school attendance, see SI 00604.093).
