A. Purpose
This Emergency Message (EM) informs the FOs of enhancements that will have an impact on certain SERS screens and the SERS receipt. We will update SERS policies and related POMS to reflect these changes.
B. Background on SERS
SERS is an automated solution to collect standard administrative fees for non-programmatic services and certain Title II and Title XVI programmatic debts in the FOs.
SERS uses card readers and check scanners to electronically process payments paid by check, money order, debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card).
C. Miscellaneous Updates
To enhance usability and functionality for remittance processing via SERS, the following changes are effective on or about June 17, 2019.
        · Switch the placement of FO and remitter address on the SERS receipt
This enhancement ensures the customer information prints on the left side of the SERS receipt so the remitter’s address displays in the envelope window.
        · Change the fulfillment status default to Fulfilled for Standard Fee orders
This change ensures accuracy of processing status for all Standard Fee Orders the FO completes immediately. Technicians have the option to change the fulfillment status to Unfulfilled for incomplete orders.
        · Display the Social Security Administration (SSA) logo on all SERS screens
This enhancement ensures all SERS screens accurately displays an updated SSA logo.
Direct all program-related and technical questions to your Regional Office (RO) support staff or Processing Center (PC) Operations Analysis (OA) staff. RO support staff or PC AO staff may refer questions or problems to their Central Office contacts.
