Background

Disability Policy archives these instructions that are outdated and no longer consistent with continuing disability review (CDR) whereabouts unknown (WU) policy. SSA considers a WU case a technical determination, not a medical one. If a person’s whereabouts become unknown after the case arrives at the DDS, the DDS does not prepare a determination. The DDS returns the case to the FO as a “No Determination (ND)”. A notice is not required in these situations.
