Summary of Changes
GN 01715.320 Identification of Designated Border Offices
Updated policy and procedure to improve the content of the procedure.
Many claims filed under the Canadian agreement in the United States are filed in field offices (FO’s) with service areas near the Canadian border or with a substantial Canadian population. To provide quicker service, these offices (referred to as “designated border offices”) perform some of the claims-related liaison functions with Canadian agencies that would normally be handled by the Office of International Operations (OIO).
Designated border offices process claims filed under the agreement in accordance with GN 01715.325
01715.335 . All other FO’s should follow the usual procedures in GN
Designated border offices that process claims filed under the U.S.-Canadian agreement are shown below:
Presque Isle, ME
New York Region
Niagara Falls, NY
Sault Ste., Marie
Grand Forks, ND
Great Falls, MT
Coeur d’Alene, ID
Designated border offices are subject to change. See Canadian Service Area
for information about the border offices that service areas in Canada.
