A. Purpose
The purpose of this emergency message (EM) is to inform technicians of the updates to the Title II and Title XVI administrative tolerance policy.
B. Background
Effective May 13, 2024, we are updating the administrative waiver tolerance policy to improve customer service, reduce the burden to overpaid individuals, and increase front-line staff efficiency. We are implementing the following changes:
· Renamed the Title II POMS, GN 02250.350 to “Administrative Waiver Tolerance of $2,000 or less” to adequately reflect the correct tolerance amount; and
· Increased the administrative waiver tolerance amount from $1,000 to $2,000 for Title II and Title XVI.
Continue to follow all other instructions located in:
· GN 02250.350, Administrative Waiver Tolerance of $2,000 or less, and
· SI 02260.030, Impede Effective or Efficient Administration of Title XVI of the Act (Administrative Waiver) to process a waiver request involving the administrative tolerance.
Direct all program-related and technical questions to your Regional Office (RO) support staff using vHelp or Program Service Center (PSC) Operations Analysis (OA) staff. RO support staff or PSC OA staff may refer questions, concerns, or problems to their Central Office contacts.
