A. Policy for requesting birth, marriage, divorce, and death records

Trinidad and Tobago has s single, nationwide repository of civil registration records. Records are held at the Registrar General’s Department of Trinidad and Tobago.

B. Procedure for requesting birth, marriage, divorce, and death records

1. Office to contact

Contact the Registrar General’s Department where the event took place for birth, marriage, and death records in person or online at http://agla.gov.tt. Visit http://agla.gov.tt.home-contact-us/ for the addresses of the Registrar General's Department. For divorce records individuals contact the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Halls of Justice, Knox Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

NOTE: 

While, Trinidad and Tobago considers these documents as certified evidence, we do not accept the documents unless the custodian subsequently affixes a signature, stamp, or seal with a statement attesting to the accuracy of document.

2. Birth records

Include the following information in requests for birth records:

  • Full name at birth

  • Date and place (including the district) of birth

  • Parent's maiden name

  • Parents' full names

3. Fees

  • Birth, death, marriage - TT $25.00

  • Divorce - TT $10.00 if for use in Trinidad and Tobago, $20.00 if for use outside Trinidad and Tobago

Online services have convenience fees, one certificate and registered post - $3.18 TTD and delivery via registered post within Trinidad and Tobago - $25.00 TTD.
