If a qualified alien meets the requirements in SI 00502.140A, they meet the military service condition for eligibility. In general, a qualified alien is potentially eligible under this condition if the alien, their spouse, or parent (if the alien is under 18) is on active duty in the U.S. armed forces or is an honorably discharged U.S. veteran.

Develop military service if:

  the claimant is a qualified alien, and

• •

  appears to meet the military service requirements in SI 00502.140, and

• •

  does not meet another condition that permits eligibility (To found out when a qualified alien can be eligible for SSI, see SI 00502.100A.3) or is in a time-limited category (for more information on the time-limited eligibility aliens, see SI 00502.106).
