   At times there will be up to five separate Numident records for a particular SSN.
      However, for these multiple items, it is only necessary to perform the reinstating
      action, if appropriate, one time. Any subsequent records for that same SSN can be
      disregarded.
   
   
   
      - 
         
            A.  
               Compare the reported name information shown on Line 2 to the other information shown
                  on the screen display.

            B.  
               Determine, using the rules outlined below, if the item can be reinstated. 
                  - 
                     
                        1.  
                           Reinstate if a nickname is shown with a new surname. Refer to Appendix A for examples
                              of key names and derivatives. (This rule applies to FEMALES ONLY.)

                        2.  
                           Reinstate if an obvious male nickname is shown in the reported first name (Line 2)
                              field and the reported and established surnames match. Refer to Appendix B for examples
                              of key names and derivatives.

                        3.  
                           Reinstate when the reported surname sounds similar to the established surname information
                              (Lines 4 - 6). The reported initial(s) or first name must agree with the established
                              name information.

                        4.  
                           Reinstate if all reported name information (Line 2) is shown in the surname field
                              and this information matches the established name information.

                        5.  
                           Reinstate the item if the reported surname (Line 2) matches any of the names shown
                              on Lines 4 through 8. The reported initial(s) or first name must agree with the established
                              name information.

                        6.  
                           Reinstate those items showing partially garbled information in the reported name field
                              (Line 2) if it can be determined the individuals are the same person.

                        7.  
                           Reinstate when you have an obvious name reversal.

                        8.  
                           Reinstate the item where there is an obvious reporting error, e.g., two surnames reported
                              and the second surname was taken as the first name.

               If item can be reinstated, follow the instruction in RM 02528.004.

               If item cannot be reinstated, continue on to the next record.
