  • Persons who made contributions under the old system may have been assigned a Social Insurance Number.

  • In 1980, Chile began issuing a National Personal Identification Number, known by the Spanish acronym RUT, to all Chilean residents. The RUT has 9 characters (8 numbers followed by a dash and a number or the letter K).
