RS 00630.300 Initial Entitlement to Widow(er)’s Insurance Benefit (WIB) and Retirement Insurance Benefit (RIB) Prior to 01/1973

For WIB and RIB entitlement established before 01/1973, we reduced the RIB by the method described in RS 00615.160, except we derived the carry-over reduction in RIB (method IIA) money amount of reduction (MAR) using:

  82 1/2 percent of the primary insurance amount (PIA);

• •

  5/9 of 1 percent reduction for months of WIB entitlement age 60-62; and

• •

  43/198 of 1 percent reduction for months of WIB entitlement age 50-60.

If we computed the RIB after 12/1972, we refigured the RIB reduction due to prior reduced WIB entitlement under the 1972 amendment provision.
