HI 00610.400 Duration of Home Health Services Under SMI

Under SMI a patient is entitled to 100 visits in a calendar year. There is no requirement that the patient be in a benefit period. If entitled to services under both Part A and Part B, the visits must first be charged against Part A.

NOTE: Effective July 1, 1981, the prior inpatient stay requirement under Part A as well as the 100 visit limitation under both Parts A and B are eliminated.
