In (1) , you told us that you saved some Social Security money for (2) . The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) asked us about this money and we told them
how much you saved. This letter will tell you how this money may affect (3) checks from the VA.
How Savings Affect VA Benefits
A person's VA benefits may stop when both of the following are true.
-
•
The government is paying for the person's care
AND
-
•
The person has $1,500.00 or more in savings.
VA benefits should start again when the savings are $500.00 or less.
What You Can Do
We suggest that you contact (4) as soon as possible. You should find out what (5) needs will be if the VA benefits stop. The people there will help you decide how
to use the money you have saved to meet these needs. If you would like to talk with
us before you talk with the VA, please contact us.
