NL 10620.105 Are the Standards Different for Spanish Notices?

Generally, the notice standards for English and Spanish Notices are the same.  In a few instances, there is a different standard for English and Spanish notices. The differences are:

A. Sentence length

English notices – Write English notices at a sixth- to eighth-grade reading level with an average sentence length of no more than 15–20 words.

Spanish notices – Write Spanish notices at a sixth- to eighth-grade reading level with an average sentence length of no more than 20–25 words.

B. Lines per paragraph

English notices – English notices written at the sixth- to eighth-grade reading level should have no more than 7 lines per paragraph.

Spanish notices – Spanish notices written at the sixth- to eighth-grade reading level should have no more than 9 lines per paragraph.
