The State of Texas has established field archives in selected areas for the purpose
of maintaining school records for nearby counties. The general public may contact
the archivists directly. To obtain a school record from the field archives, send an
SSA-562 to the parallel office. In all cases, a signed and dated release (SSA-L106)
must accompany the request. Check the Dallas Region's Proof of Age database for availability
of other school records.
Use chart 1 to determine the location of the selected school records by locating the
county and determining the "locator" number shown.
Use chart 2 to determine the field archive address and parallel FO for that "locator"
number.
EXAMPLE: If the claimant attended school in Austin County, the "locator" number is "1" and
the "1" field archive is at Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas.
