DI 28001.065 Reestablishing Title XVI Eligibility Following Suspension or Termination for Non-disability
Reasons
When a recipient’s prior Title XVI eligibility was suspended due to:
-
•
a non-disability reason; and
-
•
when payment reinstatement is requested so that the non-disability suspension no longer
applies.
A continuing disability review (CDR) and determination will be necessary, when an
event raises a continuing disability (CD) issue after the last disability determination
was processed. The case will be forwarded to Disability Determination Services (DDS)
for appropriate development and CD determination, if the event that occurs, raises
a medical issue.
The DDS will also receive cases where the payments, previously suspended on a whereabouts
unknown basis, were reinstated, but in which a CD issue is still outstanding. (Suspension
for whereabouts unknown, exception S08 (rep payee), are terminated after 12-consecutive
suspension months effective 9/4/79.) A CD determination is required to resolve any
medical improvement issues that may have occurred since the last determination.
