DI 40515.105 Processing Center Responsibilities in Statutory Benefit Continuation

A. What the Processing Centers (PCs) do in Statutory Benefit Continuation (SBC) cases

In SBC cases, the PCs are responsible for processing:

  • Disability cessation output based on field office (FO) direct input, see SM 00614.000;

  • FO cessation/adverse reopening faxes via the MADCAP system; and

  • Critical payment system (CPS) output based on FO CPS reinstatements, see SM 00635.720.

B. Preparing the SSA-833 in extended period of eligibility (EPE) reinstatement cases (whether allowed or denied)

The PCs are responsible for preparing the SSA-833 in impairment severity cessations when the beneficiary performs SGA during the extended period of eligibility (EPE) and appeal of impairment severity cessation is favorable. Most likely these cases will be ALJ, AC, or court reversals forwarded to the PC for payment effectuation.

Prepare the SGA SSA-833 when the cases described above are received, in accordance with DI 13010.170B.

Do not prepare the SGA SSA-833 if the cessation is affirmed.
