DI 42586.025 Analysis of Search Efforts and Responder Jacket Dispatch -- Stieberger

A. Procedure -- analysis of search efforts

Review the folder(s) located and the FACT, OHAQ, and SSIRD to determine that all Stieberger claims have been located or otherwise accounted for. For those that are located, review the file to see if it contains the relevant evidence.

1. Claim found

  1. a.

Document the Folder Retrieval Worksheet (Exhibit 7, DI 42586.095) to show that the claim(s) was found.

  2. b.

If an office has the Stieberger claim (usually OHA) but will not release the folder, document the worksheet.

  3. c.

Place all search material, including the worksheet and queries, in the responder jacket.

2. Claim/Evidence could not be located

  1. a.

Document the worksheet to show what claim or evidence is missing.

  2. b.

If an office has a current claim for a responder in process, do not request the folder. Instead, document the worksheet.

B. Procedure -- disposition of responder jacket

After all actions are completed:

  1. a.

Staple all search materials to the Folder Retrieval Worksheet, and place in the green folder.

  2. b.

Route the request jacket and any claims folders that were located to the FO or DDS via an SSA-559. Make sure the green jacket is on top of all claims folders.

  3. c.

Annotate the SSA-559 “ Stieberger Case - See Folder Retrieval Worksheet in File.”
