SI 02009.045 Both Members of an Eligible Couple Change to Different Living Arrangements Within a Quarter

1. One Member of a couple Goes From L/A A to L/A B, the Other Member Goes from L/A A to L/A D Within a Quar­ter. There is No Month Where the Computation in SI 02009.030 Applies. - (Example 1)

Mr. and Mrs. Bertho are an eligible couple. Mr. Bertho receives a pension payable the third month of each quar­ter in the amount of $540. On November 18, 1981 Mr. Bertho enters a nursing facility and Medicaid pays over 50 percent of all costs. On November 23, 1981, Mrs. Bertho goes to stay with her daughter while Mr. Bertho remains in the nursing home. Mrs. Bertho makes no con­tribution to their daughter's household expenses (i.e., re­ceives in-kind support and maintenance). Mr. Bertho remains in the nursing facility throughout December 1981.

She makes no contribution to the house­hold expenses and is determined to be receiving in-kind support and maintenance. On February 7, Mr. Garp en­ters a nursing facility and Medicaid begins to pay over 50 percent of the cost of his care. The living arrangement sta­tus is as follows:
