The Part A intermediaries and Part B carriers, as contractors with the Federal Government,
are governed by Part II of Executive Order 11246 which prohibits such contractors
from discriminating against employees or applicants on the basis of race, creed, color,
sex, or national origin. CMS has the responsibility for insuring that the intermediaries
and carriers are in compliance with EO 11246. The OMBP carries out this responsibility.
District managers may occasionally be contacted by OMBP personnel for assistance in
intermediary and carrier compliance surveys.
