Services performed from 1940 through 1965 by an intern employed by a hospital are
excepted from coverage if:

the intern completed a 4-year course in medical school; and

•
the school is chartered or approved pursuant to State law.
The exception applies only to medical school graduates serving in internship of one
year or less.
The intern exception does not apply to a resident doctor or a resident-in-training.
