NL 01001.140 Procedure for the Large Print (18 Point Font) Special Notice Option (SNO) for People with Blindness or Visual Impairments

A. What happens when the person selects the large print option?

When a person selects the large print SNO, we send the standard print documents using normal procedures. In addition, the notice system automatically routes the notice and other documents to a vendor to produce the large print documents. Large print documents are in 18-point font.

B. Why do we enclose a cover sheet with certain large print notices?

We send a cover sheet with large print notices that contains the notice recipient’s name and mailing address so the vendor can mail the notice in a window envelope. The language on the cover sheet is as follows:

“We sent you a standard print version of this letter in a separate envelope."

We send the additional language with these large print notices:

  • SSA and certain record specification notices that have an enclosed form for the recipient to return to us, and

  • All DDS-generated notices.
