GN 00308.018 Delaware Vital Records

A. Process

Certified divorce records are available for $4.00–uncertified copy $1.00–from the Family Court in the county where the divorce was granted for years after 1975. For years prior to 1976, divorce decrees must be obtained from the Prothonotary's office in each county. The cost is $6.00.

$25.00 except divorce.

4. Remarks:

Delaware requires a copy of the requester's official photo identification (driver's license, State ID, or work ID) for vital record requests. A parent's identification is needed for a child. If an FO employee is the requester, see GN 00308.001B.3. for acceptable forms of identification.

Can FO verify, certify or obtain free copy of birth/death record? Yes, but attempt to verify through the Electronic Verification of Vital Events (EVVE) before contacting the FO.

FO will verify FAX request accompanied with a photocopy of the birth certificate. Requests are returned by mail. The FAX number is 833-912-2301. Verifications are made every Friday.
