RM 00207.015 Assigning an SSN with Identifying Information
Obtain identifying information before assigning an SSN.
1. Life Claim
|1||Get a completed and signed SS-5.|
|2||Conduct the mandatory in-person interview with applicants age 12 or older with no prior SSN.|
|3||See RM 10211.500 if evidence establishes the applicant is an alien not legally in the U.S.|
|4||Develop full evidence of age, identity, U.S. citizenship or lawful alien status even if the claimant alleges having an SSN. This will prevent delaying the claim for further development.|
|5||See RM 10205.020 if the SS-5 application data is returned “unable to locate” (UTL).|
