RM 00207.010 Obtaining Additional Identifying Information for SSN
Get additional information to verify the SSN when identifying information on the application differs from information on the enumeration data base records.
Follow these steps to obtain identifying information:
|1||Determine if the worker ever used different dates of birth or gave a different place of birth.|
|2||Request other name or variations of names (e.g., nicknames, other married surnames) used by the worker. Get information about the worker's alleged employment in the U.S. after 1936.|
|3||Request information the worker may have given on a previous application for an SSN (e.g., names of step or foster parents instead of natural parents).|
|4||If appropriate, obtain an SS-5 to update the NUMIDENT and if necessary issue an SSN card.|
