RM 01361.003 Block Record (PL1)

A. Introduction

Program Level 1 (PL1) is the first program level that will appear for keying after a batch is opened. The data to be keyed is contained on the batch transmittal. After PL1 is keyed, the system will automatically link to PL2.

B. Procedure

Key each field in PL1 as follows:

1. Range Number (RN)

This is a must-key, must-fill, 5-position field. Key the 5-digit range number shown on the batch transmittal as follows:

  1. a. 

    Key the assigned range number of 00001 through 89999.

  2. b. 

    A message, "IS THE RANGE KEYBATCH NUMBER CORRECT?" will display on the screen after you have completed keying the assigned range number.

  3. c. 

    Review the "Range Number" shown in Program Level- 1 against the batch transmittal.

  4. d. 

    If the number is correct, depress the space bar to continue.

  5. e. 

    If the number is incorrect, notify the supervisor in charge. The supervisor will contact ADP to report the incorrect range number.

2. Routine Requests

Key all routine requests first. The system will automatically skip the special indicator (SP) prompt when keying routine requests.

3. Special (SP) Requests

This is a 2-position field, (1 – 2). After all routine requests have been keyed, field back to the “SPECIAL INDICATOR PROMPT” (SP:) and key the “RT”, “SR” and/or “SL” specials. After keying the first special code into the (SP) field, the system will automatically stop to allow you to key the remaining specials.

The special indicator codes (SP) and function of each code is as follows:

 Alerts the system to forward the English and/or Spanish language Form SSA-7005 to WBDOC for special handling.

SL

Alerts the system to generate a Spanish language form SSA-7005 PEBES for mailing directly to the requester.
