RM 03809.045 Scouting Earnings in a Lag Period

Under annual reporting, the lag period is usually the current year and the preceding one. The current year's earnings will not be reported until February of the following year. These unreported earnings cannot be scouted. The preceding year's earnings, however, will be processed during several postings in the current year. The scout should check all available sources for the most current status of the individual's earnings record. If:

  1. Earnings are located, prepare any necessary adjustments and annotate the “Remarks” column of the SSA-7009.

  2. Earnings are not located, annotate the “Remarks” column of the SSA-7009 to show “lag” for the year.
