RM 03846.019 Determining if Multiple or Duplicate SE Reports Have Been Adjusted

  1. A.

If multiple or duplicate SE reports for a year are involved, the SSA-7009 or scout report should show if an adjustment has been made.

  2. B.

If the SSA-7009 or scout report does not indicate if an adjustment has been made, request scouting to obtain the information.

NOTE: Instruct the scout to annotate the excess quarters file “earnings discrepancy investigation in process” if the multiple or duplicate SE reportings have not been adjusted.

  3. C.

Close the case if multiple or duplicate reportings have been properly adjusted and there are no other discrepancies requiring investigation.

  4. D.

If multiple or duplicate SE reports are involved which have not been corrected, forward the case to the district office per RM 03803.055 with microprints of the SE data.

  5. E.

Ask the field office to develop whether:

    1. 1.

The individual may have filed a separate Schedule SE for each of two or more businesses or partnerships, or

    2. 2.

One of the SE reports may belong to someone else, or

    3. 3.

One of the SE reports may be for a different year.
