BASIC (12-83)

RM 05101.004 Receiving and Controlling Forms I-131

  1. Receive periodic shipments of I-131's from the Immigration and Naturalization Service. For some time, the forms may also be forwarded by the previous addressee, (Validation Branch, DRO).

  2. Group the forms into blocks of 50 forms per block. Assign a three-digit number (001 through 999) and label each block, “FORMS I-131 — BLOCK NUMBER      .”

  3. The forms within each block established can be arranged in SSN sequence based on the number shown in block 9 of the I-131. However, this will be left to the discretion of the branch if it is necessary for ease in associating the forms with related EDP output during subsequent handling.

  4. A control register will be furnished by the Pre-Claims Branch to record various information for each block of Forms I-131. The register should be maintained to record processing dates and screening results for each block.
