GN 01704.100 Award and Disallowance Processing

Claims for totalization benefits are received from beneficiaries who are already entitled to RSDI benefits as well as from persons whose claims for RSDI benefits were previously denied or who have never filed for social security benefits. The processing of these claims depends on whether the claims are from beneficiaries or new applicants.
