GN 01729.125 Eligibility for Austrian Benefits under the U.S-Austrian Totalization Agreement

A. Determining eligibility

The agreement provides that Austria will count a worker's U.S. coverage when determining eligibility for Austrian benefits if the worker:

  • •

    is not insured based on Austrian coverage alone; and

  • •

    has at least 12 months of Austrian coverage.

B. Crediting U.S. coverage

Austria will credit three months of Austrian coverage for each U.S. quarter of coverage. However, Austria will not credit any month that is already credited as a month of coverage under the Austrian system.
