GN 01734.310 How OIO Processes Luxembourg Agency Requests for Medical Evidence and Examinations

A. Process

  • •

    If a Luxembourg agency requests medical evidence, OIO will forward medical evidence from OIO files. OIO will not request medical evidence from other PSCs. The Luxembourg agency request is submitted on form
    LUX/USA 6.

  • •

    If a Luxembourg agency requests a medical examination from a U.S. resident, SSA will schedule the examination and send the results to the Luxembourg agency. The Luxembourg agency request is submitted on form LUX/ USA 6.

B. Procedure

1. Medical Evidence

When a Luxembourg agency requests medical evidence, send the evidence from OIO files as described in GN 01704.810 C.

2. Medical Examinations

Follow these steps when responding to a Luxembourg agency request for a medical examination.

 

Step Action
1 Request DDB to schedule an examination or forward “pertinent medical evidence from files” as described in GN 01704.810.
2 Stamp the first and last page of each medical record being sent to Luxembourg with “true and exact copy.” Sign and date the blocks on the stamp.
3 Request reimbursement for the cost of medical examinations obtained for the Luxembourg agency using form SSA-1278-U3-LX, Request for payment of reimbursable expenses under the US-Luxembourg agreement on Social Security. Refer to the instructions in GN 01704.810 for completing the form.
