GN 01748.012 How the Foreign Service Post Processes and Develops U.S. Claims Filed With the Danish Agency

A. Process

When a person contacts the Danish social insurance agency to file a claim for U.S. benefits, that agency sends the following information to the Oslo, Norway FSP.

  • A liaison form certifying the filing date for the claim;

  • Danish earnings record if it is readily available;

  • Available medical evidence if the claim is for disability benefits.

B. Procedure

The Oslo, Norway FSP should process referrals from the Danish agency if:

1. The claimant is entitled to U.S. benefits

Forward all material to DIO annotated “already entitled to U.S. benefits”.

2. The claimant is not entitled to U.S. benefits

Process the claim in the same manner shown in GN 01748.010B.
