A. Operating Procedure

 EVENTACTION
Case 1Donation due to rumors concerning the lack of soundness of trust funds.Explain trust funds are secure. Accept if individual insists.
Case 2Donation by representative payee.Develop payee suitability. Accept if suitable.
Case 3Donor is an SSI recipient.Make personal contact. Advise consequences of excess resources. Accept if individual insists. Do a redetermination per SI 02305.001 ff. (Also consider transfer of resources below fair market value).
Case 4Donation for a State supplement.Explain that SSA administers State supplements but does not accept gifts for them.

B. Related Operating Procedure

1. QUESTIONABLE OR UNRESOLVED SITUATION

Refer a questionable situation or unresolved issue, e.g., an unacceptable anonymous gift, to the ARC, Programs.

2. OUT OF SERVICE AREA

Refer an out-of-service-area donor to his/her servicing FO for development and processing of the gift.

3. A BEQUEST

Refer a donor who offers a bequest to his/her attorney to have a will drawn up.

4. GIFT TO GENERAL FUND

Refer a donor who offers a gift to the General fund to the Treasury Department.
