RS 00202.060 Spouse's Benefits - Proof of Age

A. Policy

Proof of age is always required for a (divorced) spouse age 62 or over.

Proof of age must be requested for a spouse who will attain age 62 in or before the month in which the youngest entitled child in care attains age 16, or has a CDB in care.

B. Procedure

1. FO responsibilities

  1. a. 

    If there is a delay in obtaining proof of age for a spouse under age 62:

    • Document on the RPOC screen or on an RC that age is being developed;

    • Make the award; and

    • Send the case to the PC.

  2. b. 

    When the date of birth is established:

    • Document the RPOC screen or on an RC that the MBR must be updated, and

    • Send the claim and the above documentation to the PC for necessary action.

2. PC responsibilities

Update the MBR and enter the appropriate proof code (B, C, F, or Q) after the PF entry.
