RS 00620.070 Summary Recomputation After Age 65 or Death

A. Information regarding the summary recomputation

The 1961 amendments provided that the we recomputed the primary insurance amount (PIA) for a male entitled to a reduced retirement insurance benefit (RIB) at attainment of age 65 or death, whichever occurs first. This summary recomputation is in addition to the reduction factor adjustment if the number holder qualifies.) The 1965 amendments deleted the summary recomputation and considered any additional earnings under the “automatic” recomputation provision provided in the 1965 amendments.

B. Policy regarding the summary recomputation

You may include earnings through the year of attainment of age 65 or death, if earlier, to recompute the PIA. If death occurs before attainment of age 65, do not count the year of death and later years as elapsed years.

The effective date is the month the number holder (NH) attains age 65. If death occurred earlier, the effective date is the date of death.
