DI 22510.039 Pediatric CE Report Content Guidelines - Respiratory

A. Policy - General

Specific requirements exist in addition to all general pediatric guidelines in DI 22510.035.

B. Policy - History

The history should include a description of:

  • Dyspnea, wheezes, cough, etc.;

  • Frequency, severity, and duration of symptoms and other episodes of respiratory problems; and

  • Response to medication.

C. Policy - Physical Exam

The physical exam should include:

  • A description of any visible chest wall abnormality;

  • Cyanosis and clubbing; and

  • Auscultation findings.

D. Policy - Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing should include, as appropriate:

  • Pulmonary function testing;

  • Arterial blood gas studies;

  • Pulse oximetry; and

  • Chest x-ray.
