SI 00830.405 describes the policy for Emergency Assistance. Currently, only two States in the
Atlanta Region have a form of Emergency Assistance. North Carolina has TANF funded
Emergency Assistance; each county sets the eligibility criteria. Florida has a non-TANF
Emergency Assistance program. When a case involves Emergency Assistance, follow SI 00830.405. If unanswered questions remain, contact the SSI Policy Staff in the Regional Office.
