HI 00204.015 Office for Civil Rights Responsibility in Prohibiting Discrimination

The Secretary of HHS has delegated to the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) the primary responsibility to see that all Part A providers (hospitals, SNF's, and HHA's), and some independent laboratories that receive Federal funds are in compliance with title VI. DO's may be called upon from time to time to assist OCR in determining the compliance status of providers participating or desiring to participate in Medicare.
