HI 00208.025 Role of the HSQ RO in Certification

The RO's handle all matters relating to the survey and certification program at the regional level. Their principal activities are:

  1. A.

Review certification recommendations made by State agencies for Medicare purposes and issue provider agreements to those which meet the requirement. In making a decision of substantial compliance and eligibility to participate, the HSQ RO relies on the evidence submitted by the provider or supplier, the State agency, the Office of Civil Rights, the Bureau of Quality Control and the PSRO's.

  2. B.

Terminate those providers and suppliers that, on resurvey, are found not to be in substantial compliance.
